ABOUT Ellie
Ellie Brown (b.1999) is a stone carver, working from her studio space at Trenoweth quarry, Mabe. Limestone, soapstone and granite are her primary materials. Brown’s work emerges from instinctual, direct carving while exploring the human form. The sculptures become discreet abstracts of the body, which comment on the fragility and identity of the subject.
She graduated from Falmouth University in 2020 and co-founded Quarry-House collective.
Ellie recently returned to Cornwall after a two month residency in France. While there she assisted a sculptor, carving a 3 meter standing stone for the ‘La Pierre Des Crazannes’ stone galaxy. Since returning, she has continued her studies, by starting an online MA in fine art at central saint martins.
